This would be my dad :)
My intentions are not for everyone to go through their winter supply of kleenexes. So, I decided to just share a couple of memories that I still have of my dad and be able to say that I miss him every.single.day of my life. 13 years is too long. I hope that I make him proud & that one day, we will meet again <3
Oh the SUZUKI! What a piece of crap!! Let me tell you a little somethin about this hunk of junk... It was a disaster! Like World War III in that bad boy. I can't even remember anyone else ever even daring to ride in it besides Dad, Zach, and I. It was disgusting. Rolls of film, Cameras, Camera bags, Coke cans, Newspapers you name it, he had it. There was JUST enough room for Zach to squeeze (his then) little booty in the back seat. I was the oldest/princess, so therefore I always got to sit up front! There was a "oh shit" handle on the dash that I always would grab hold of and pretend I was driving. Dorky I know! But give me a break I was itty bitty. I also remember listening to Bob & Tom every morning on our way to school. I didn't really get their sense of humor at that age but boy did my dad think they were funny!!
Dad was a photograhper at the Belleville News Democrat. Most of my memories with him happend there. I loved going in the dark room with him to develop pictures. I used to have so much fun running up/down the big blue staircase. Sometimes he would take me around to everyone to visit. My favorite was the lady who drew for a comic strip. She would always let me color with her colored pencils. There was another lady who ALWAYS had candy on her desk. Dad never said no, probably because he wanted a piece of candy too!
Dad was a GOOF! A jokester. A dork. Ha!! I miss his laugh. He would sometimes laugh to the point of tears. He loved to interpret people. Barney, Elivis, Bettlejuice, Homer Simpson. Ya, he was a funny man who kept me entertained at least. I still watch Christmas Vacation every.single.Thanksgiving. and think of him. He loved that movie!! I still laugh at all the same parts he did. Not only did dad have a sense of humor, he was a kid himself! He would make a big batch of chocolate chip cookie dough & we wouldn't bake one single cookie! Yup! That's right! I had a cool dad who would let us eat as much raw yummy cookie dough as we wanted! Of course, mom wasn't supposed to know so he would hide it waaaaay in the back of the refrigerator. For some reason, I think she knew what was up.
I love this picture :) It was probably one of the very last pictures ever taken of him. This is the boys' memory, not mine. But I know that he LOVED them so much!
My absolute FAVORITE memory of My DAD :)
Every weekend we would jump in bed with him & mom. Sometimes we snuggled, but most of the time it was a tickling war, wrestling match, or pillow fight. It is a tradition that I have carried on with Luke. I love Sunday mornings in bed as a family!
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance.
