Last days of October

October was full of anticipation.

I'm tellin ya, I got this who 'nesting' thing down. This wasn't my first rodeo, it was my third. I knew exactly how it all plays out after you bring baby home. You're exhausted, overwhelmed, & the clean and organized house you left when you went to the hospital turns into a frat house in .2 seconds once you get home.

THAT was not gonna happen this time around. I wanted to be calm and clutter free.

So I went to town.

I got out the Murphy's Oil (amazing stuff..get you some!) and cleaned all the wood work in my entire house. Every inch. Every floor board, and door, and staircase, and chair got some major love.

I organized the fridge. Every closet. Every drawer. Every cabinet.

I went through 4 bottles of Windex. Cleaned every window, shampoo'd every carpet.

Painted bedrooms and bathrooms and posts.

After the house was spotless and the hospital bags were packed..... I sat. Yup, on my big ol preggo butt & twiddled my thumbs. THE worst thing you can do when your pregnant. So I decided to get a little crafty and whip up some homemade costumes (bucket list CHECK) for the boys & I for Halloween.

I was trying to think of a theme for all 3 of us, something that would be okay if Mommy had a big ol preggo belly. And right away Cat in the Hat popped in my head! PERFECT. Mama aka Cat in the Hat and L&L Thing 1 & Thing 2!! YES!!!!! Luke called me Cat for a week straight. Super easy and cheaper than going out and buying costumes.

Overall, Halloween was great! Luke spent his very last day at Prairie preshool with a costume party. We had all the grandparents over for soup & chili for dinner, made cupcakes, and ate candy. And well, no baby darn it! The boys were soooo freakin adorable trick or treating!!! Luke would go up to a door & ever so politely say 'trick or treat' and 'thank you' while Log's trailed behind big brother and just held his bag out. Believe it or not...this is the very first year either one of them have gone. Yes, even Luke. Last year they both fell asleep (of course) the year before it was raining and the year before that...well...he was 10 months old and couldn't walk/talk. So it was a first for both Luke & Logan. Gaaahh! I am a sucker for firsts.

And, I gotta be honest. I LOVE LOVE LOVE living in a subdivision. I have never lived anywhere in the 'prime' trick or treating zones. We seriously went through some candy! I think L&L had more fun passing out candy once we got back than they did trick or treating themselves!

We finished October, the last month as a family of 4 with our annual Halloween picture with one of my oldest friend.
