Trust the Process

if there is one thing i actually hate
about being a mom..it is..
potty training.

seriously. shoot me now.
it's time consuming.
annoying.
frustrating.
and just plain disgusting.

luckily for me,
i have a little experience this go around.
and just possibly... a little more patience.

if i could give any advice whatsoever it would be...

do NOT listen to anyone else's bs about YOUR kid.
for real.
grrr. nothing gets under my skin more.
"he should be potty trained by now"
"why is she wearing a pull up"
you know what i'm talking about.
and hopefully you're not one of those people.
you know your kid better than anyone else.

i was one of the crazy moms with luke.
he was 18 months old & i bought him a potty chair.
he wasn't fully potty trained until 3 months after his 3rd birthday.

this time i know....
that every kid is different.
if your kid is potty trained by 2. great!
does that guarantee them acceptance to Harvard? no.
you can't pressure kids into wanting to go potty.
you can bribe them. but that only works once or twice.
they have to want to go potty themselves.

a few months ago logan wanted to wear big boy undies.
i thought to myself this is it!!
i guess all those people were right...
"the 2nd kid always pt's faster"
ha. no.
he just wanted to wear undies like his big brother.
so i humored him.
he ran around for 2 days.
thinking he was hot stuff until he peed on himself every hour or so.

but last night! last night was extraordinary!!!!
the little monster started running towards the bathroom
ripping his diaper off along the way
screaming "I GOTTA POTTYYYY"

bam!
he not only peed but pooped on the potty!!
without anyone telling him what to do.
or how to do it.
he just did it. on his own.

i was so proud!! and relieved.
i think every mom thinks at one point or another..
is this kid EVER going to stop shittin in their pants? ha.
i know i did at least 100 times with luke.

of course i'm not a naïve mama anymore...
i am very well aware we have a long way to go
before we throw a poopy party...
yes, i throw my kids poopy parties.
it's a BIG deal.

he's peed on the potty once today and that is it.
he'll get it. on his own time. in his own way.
because that's my logan :)

I am so happy I had time to read this. We are trying to potty train Isaac and having a heck of a time. This puts me at ease. It will happen when it happens. Good luck with Logan!!
