I bought this rug on clearance a few months ago
Ya, not crazy about it. Like seriously, I contemplated buying it in the store. In & out of the cart it went..then apparently made its way back in. NEVER do that. If you don't LOVE something in the store your never going to love it when you get home. It's ok. Just ok. Not cool. You should loooove everything in your house. And this folks, is not love. I can't find any throw pillows that coordinate. Drives me bonkers. So we still have the lovely zebra striped ones from before. EEEEK. Martha would be ashamed. I want to make sure I love whatever pillows I find before I buy them. They are expensive. And to all of you crafty ladies out there, don't even mention changing the fabric out on my already bought pillows. I've already looked for material. This rug is just ackward.
So. There is this OTHER area rug that I have been eye'n up for quite sometime that just so happens to be 20% off at the moment. I pretty much love it. But I am extremely hesistant on buying it. For a couple different reasons. 1. I might fall into the same dilema with throw pillows. BUT there are lots of colors I could pull out of it. 2. It's really girly. Although I wouldn't mind...I have soon to be three boys living under my roof. I'm a little out numbered. And with all the tonka trucks and balls scattered around my living room, it just doesn't fit quite as well as I'd hope. 3. It's busy. Really busy. Ahh, I don't know. What do you think?
OR!! I was thinking something not so busy. That would be easy peasy to find throw pillows for....
like a (red) shag area rug?? But of course...then I'm nervous about how well it will do with the vaccuum. Ahhh. Decisions. Decisions. PLEASE give me your opinion/advice/ideas?! I know there are more important things in the world. BUT this is driving me caaarazy!! :)

I personally love the rug but then again I am a girl. I would think it would be easy to pull colors out of also. Hey with three boys don't you need a little something slightly girly. Plus none of the colors in it are girly.
Ooooo, I'm liking your way of thinking Melissa!! lol
I actually like both rugs! I would think with the second rug that you might have to keep the rest of the room pretty neutral with solid colors to not make it too busy. It would definitely become the focal point.
We always have rugs on carpet. It never occurred to me to think it was weird, haha. I think it helps to add color and anchor a room in a way plain carpet can't...and since we're living in rented spaces for the time being we have no say in what the flooring is!
Keeping the rest of the room neutral isn't a biggie. We have a brown leather wrap around couch, a entertainment center, and toys galore haha. I don't want to go all matchy matchy on the pillows. But maybe some solid blue ones & a splash of another color??
I'm glad I am not the only one! I've had a couple people ask me why I have a rug on carpet. I didn't know it was abnormal either!
I'm in LOVE with that second one & think you should totally get it!! Like Melissa said....you need something girly in there with all the trucks & dinosaurs!! Solid blue pillows would look really good with it...and if you want another splash of color maybe do that organey color of those two small flowers....that would look great with the brown couch!!
I agree, Meagan! Solid orange and blue with the leather couch would be gorgeous. Or even solid blue with subtly patterned orange pillows. Okay Sarah, get the darn rug already! :)
i love your blog :) and i know im a couple days late, but i totally think that if the 3 boys get toys and trucks and mud(outside of course) and all the other 'boy' things, go ahead and get ur 'girly' rug :) i hope u have a little girl unless ur stoppin at 2 kids so u have an automatic vote for anything girly u want in ur house :) ps..u seem like an awesome mom so dont stop at 2 hahaha
Awww, thanks doll!!!
No worries, I have no plans on turning off the baby maker quite yet :)
