Jazzin' it up a bit

As you know, our house is for sale. We have done so much work to the inside & have neglected the outside. I don't want to throw a lot of $$$ into making the outside look more appealing. So I have been putting my Martha skills to the test the past week. And this is what I have so far...

I have no idea what possesed the previous owners to have a light like that, butttt...Now I'm not completely embarressed to turn the outside light on when the delievery boy comes over.

A little paint & new door handle and Walaaah!! It only took 3952989038 coats. I have always always wanted a red door & now I couldn't be happier!! Apparently, having a red door used to mean your house was payed off. Well, that's not the case but I think it is just stunning! I don't want to show you a final product yet though. Lowe's will be coming this coming week to put a new storm door in (the old one is in impossible condition to make more appealing) Tell me this though.. I'm terrified to put my fall wreath on, I think that it might ding the paint? Hmmmm....

Yay, the red door! It looks great! I think you would be fine hanging a wreath, but I understand your hesitation, haha. Painting is fun at first, but eventually becomes a pain in the rear when you have to touch it up all the time!

Gah! Do you know what would be so cute?? This just popped into my head: You could pick up some trim at Lowe's or Home Depot (for like 5 bucks) and put a thicker frame around the glass. I'd paint the trim white or dark brown. I think it would give the door so much character (for super cheap!) You can just ignore me, haha. I'm a sucker for a DIY project.

I agree with Adrien, white trim would really give the door some character! We just might have some laying around in our garage, enough to go around the little window. I will check next time I am up at the house and let you know.

And Sarah, I feel your pain! Our front door is painted hunter green with maroon around the crescent shaped window (that I can't even see out of). I am planning on painting it the "sweet tea" color of our living room, it is more maroon looking, and I will be painting the trim around the window white. And we also need a new storm door. I like ours now, but for some reason the hole for the locking part on the door frame is not big enough, so it flies open ALL the time and is all broken.
