VOTE

as most of you know...
or should know
today is the primary election.
trav & i are going to vote when he gets off work
and then we are headed to fairview heights
to give my dad some moral support.
he is the superintendent at district 110
who is trying to get a referendum passed in today's election.

in a nut shell...
if this referendum doesn't get passed
the school will dissolve.
that means he is out of a job.
and so are his teachers. and cooks. and administrative assistants.
and more devastating...
that means over 700 children will lose their school.
they would have to be distributed to neighboring schools.
for instance... east st louis. bad news bears.
not only would that be a disadvantage to the city of FH,
it would be an extreme disadvantage to the students.

it's heartbreaking.
he has done everything in his power to save the district.
and now it is completely in the hands of the voters.

he is feeling confident.
& nauseas, terrified, worried, stressed
the support from the parents, school, and community
has been overwhelming this go around.
but.. of course people have to get out and vote!!!
he is even spending part of his day
driving senior voters to & from the polls.

he is the most passionate superintendent there is.
he truly cares about every person on his staff
and every single student he has.
his number one priority is always, always the kids.
he is so incredibly dedicated to giving them the best education possible.
the few times that i have seen him in his school setting...
the positive energy is intoxicating.
students even come up and give him a hug.
did you ever hug your superintendent? i sure didn't...
it's magical watching him in his element.
i am so very proud of him :)

as for today...
all i can do is keep my fingers & toes crossed.
this is not only a big day for district 110.
it is a big day for my family as well.
the outcome of this vote could really change our lives.
that is something i don't want to even begin to think about.
and hopefully tomorrow.
i won't have to.

so if you pray. please say a prayer for him today.
if you make a wish at 11:11, please make a wish for him.
if you believe in luck. send him some good luck vibes.
he will take anything he can get!!

I hate to admit this but....I don't vote. I'm not educated enough with all of it to actually cast a vote.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you dad!

No, I think that is honorable of you. Something worse than not voting IS voting for something you are not educated on.

But promise me you will vote in November? LOL.

And thank you!!! It PASSED!!! :)
